Desires of the Dead

Desires of the dead is one of my many favorite series. It’s a little bit eerie but I love it.

Violet has had a special power, ever since she was little she would feel an echo that would lead her to find a dead animal, as she has grown up, the echo has showed her more than just dead animals. The echo has pointed her to dead body’s who aren’t at peace. In the beginning of Desires of the dead she felt a pull to a body that was trapped inside a shipping container.

She makes an anonymous call to the police telling them her that she heard something inside the huge container and she left the scene, knowing that the police would find it. A couple days later she gets a mysterious call from a lady named Sarah Priest, who wanted to talk to Violet. Sarah was curious as to how Violet found the body but Violet wouldn’t tell her a thing.

Throughout this whole book, I thought there was going to be some huge twist in the plot, I kept waiting and waiting and none came. I was a little disappointed at the lack of mystery. It was pretty easy for me to figure out what was going on. I wasn’t totally sure but at parts it was pretty predictable.

I absolutely love Jay, he’s sweet and totally in love with Violet, no matter how many girls try to flirt with him. He is totally dedicated to Violet and nothing came between them. Although I was hoping for Jay to stray a little towards some girl, or Violet to somehow have something with Rafe, nothing happened. Although I am very curious as to what is up with Rafe. *sigh* I guess I’ll just have to wait for the next book.

I wish I could have given this book more stars, it was that good. Now I have to wait a whole year to find out what happens next. No more Rafe for a year. I hope something happens between them in the next book. Anyways, I strongly suggest reading this series. You won’t regret it!

5/5 stars

I love this series too! It's so good, the combination: girl with weird sixth sense, murder mysteries, and dreamy&decent boyfriend is quite addictive.
I think Rafe will stay around for the next book too, but I hope nothing happens between him and Vi..it would break my heart...it's just that I'm so sick of love triangles :(

I loved The Body Finder and have been looking forward to reading Desires of the Dead. I'm a bit disappointed that it was predictable, but perhaps more mystery will be developed as the series progress. I hope Jay and Vi stay together. They're so sweet. <3
Thanks for the review!

I just finished this book as well and agree whole heartedly with your comments. I found at times I wanted to just say gid-up-lil-doggy, but as it ended I felt it was a satisfying read. I look forward to seeing how violet gets on as she matures. Thanks for your efforts.

I love how Derting combines the parnormal and mystery genres. It makes for an exciting, fresh read. And I LOVE the covers. They give off the sense of eeriness that comes with Violet being able to sense the dead.

I can't wait to read this book. I've been looking forward to seeing how Violet and Jay's relationship develops!
