Summary:What’s a girl to do when meeting The One means she’s cursed to die a horrible death?

Life hasn’t been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Conner, so a new start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she’s irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.

But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can’t stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma’s been having the oddest dreams. Visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.

Review:
This book had me on the edge of my seat waiting for what comes next, and with the sweet romance mixed in I was hooked.
We first start with the main character of the story, Emma. Emma has had a horrible life, her mother and twin brother Ethan is dead, her step father almost killed her by drunk driving, and she has been having these crazy nightmares that make no sense. After the accident she moves in with her kind of rich aunt that lives in New York, once there she goes to this fancy school in New York. She doesn’t like to be the main attention. She likes to stay hidden. She didn’t want to get close to someone in fear of losing another person that’s close with her, she couldn’t bear it.
Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t get what she wants; life takes another course for her life.
At this school she meets a handsome boy, Brandon. Immediately after locking eyes she gets this strange feeling. She knows she has seen him before, but she would remember meeting someone like him.
Emma was going to hang out with her friends for the night, but no one told her that Brandon was going to be there. They immediately connected, she felt like she knew for ages.  After that night there was no turning back. Brandon and Emma had chemistry and it wasn’t too long before she put two and two together.
There are a couple of characters that I wish I could have slapped, hard. Anthony is big bad and tough, what kind of guy would want to even hit a girl, much less beat her up. I got so frustrated with the whole Anthony thing. And then there was the mean girl, there always has to be a mean girl.
Needless to say I was on a rollercoaster of emotions through this book. I thought it was sweet, and romantic, with some tense scenes.
There was some love and some hate, friendships, romance, soul mates, and Emma battling her past life. One great thing is, this is a standalone book, there was no cliffhanger, nor do we have to wait another year for the next book to come out! All in all this is definitely a book to check out.  The ultimate question is, do you believe in soul mates? Do you think that there’s someone out there destined to be with you forever? What do you think?

I love the cover to this!! It's what has had me anticipating this book the most (though I do like the pitch! The plot looks really good.)

I believe that there is a soul mate out there--that there are multiple people even with whom we might hit it off with. It all goes down to fate, to being at the right place at the right moment in time.
