Summary:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Reviews:
City of Bones is a book worth praising over. Cassandra Clare’s writing has been read by thousands and everyone can’t get enough, the mortal Instruments series is my top favorite series. When I found out that the mortal instrument wasn’t a trilogy anymore and that she was going to make a new one I was jumping up and down with happiness. I bought City of Fallen Angels and had to re-read the first three books in the mortal instruments series so I could remember all that happened.
Clary, the main character in the series is living a normal life with her mom, when her life changes forever. Clary and Simon (Clary’s best friend since birth) go to a club, there Clary sees three shadowhunters kill a demon, the only problem she isn’t supposed to see them, there glamoured. When she gets home she finds out that her mom is gone, possible dead and that her house is wrecked and while she was in her apartment a demon tried to kill her.
Clary then meets Jace and he takes her to the institute. The institute is where a bunch of shadowhunters live, some shadowhunters come and go but the lightwoods and Jace there adopted son lives there permanently.
There Clary learns that she is also a shadowhunter and her mom was kidnapped by her oh so evil father Valentine.
A big spoiler alert up next, which I’m pretty sure everyone already knows about. Since Clary and Jace fell in love with each and then found out they were brother and sister. Although the whole brother and sister thing was pretty predictable. It was very gross when even though  they knew that they were brother and sister, they still desired to kiss and love each other in a non brother and sister way.
The city of Bones basically is a lot of death and destruction and adventure to try to get her mom back. Clary also learns some surprising stuff about Luke, her “Uncle”, in which has been keeping secrets from Clary.
Sorry for the bad summarization, it’s really hard to summarize such a big awesome book. Especially without giving away to much of the book and going into a lot of detail.
To summarize everything, I loved Jace’s character, full of sarcasm and hurt.  And then there’s the whole thing with Clary and Jace being in love and brother and sister. Kind of creepy but it makes the book interesting.
I have to say though; since I re-read this book I don’t think I liked is as much as when I read it the first time. I still loved it but its only 4 stars for me.

4/5 stars

I am ashamed to say that I haven't read half of this book yet--I HAVE started it. I actually read Clockwork Angel first and have been hooked on Cassandra Clare ever since. I'm reading The City of Bones and looking forward to getting even more hooked on Clare's writing after having read this review!!
