Red Riding Hood

I honestly didn’t want to read this book that much. I was going to return it to the library instead of reading it. But boy am I glad I didn’t return it. I couldn’t stop reading it until the end. My mom called me for dinner and I said just a minute. Half an hour later I was still reading.

I saw the commercial for the movie and I was like really??? A type of horror movie from a little kid’s story book. I really want to see the movie now.

Valerie family is forcing her to marry Henry, but Valerie doesn’t want to marry Henry. Every other girl would love a chance to marry Henry but Valerie doesn’t care. She’s in love with Peter, who she hasn’t seen for over ten years. They were childhood best friends and one day Peter was forced to leave because her father had “committed murder”.

Ten year later Peter shows up in town, Valerie and her friends are surprised at how handsome he has gotten. Then one night Claude found Lucie (Valerie’s sister) body lying near a field. Killed by the wolf. Soon the whole town is scared, wondering whose little girl the wolf is going to kill next.

As Peter and Valerie get closer and closer there attraction towards each other gets stronger. Henry finds saw them kissing and he has broken off the engagement. Henry does love Valerie very much. He was sad to let her go but he didn’t want to see her sad when they were together. I liked Henry I wished that somehow it worked out between them but unfortunately it didn’t happen.

Still trying to figure out who the wolf is the whole town doesn’t know what to do. After Lucie dies some of the men from town go up to kill the werewolf once and for all. Henry’s dad dies and they want revenge finally they kill the beast. Or what they thought it was. More of the town died and the whole town was speechless not knowing who it was. Finally the wolf traps Valerie and her friend in a corner. Valerie can understand exactly what the wolf was saying. No one else can hear the wolf. They assume Valerie is a witch and they put her into a jail. They’re going to use her as bait to capture the wolf.

I don’t want to say anymore as to ruin the book but I do want to say that everyone should read this book. The ending doesn’t give you a clue of who the wolf but if you go to this website to read the final chapter and find out who the wolf really is.

May

I don’t read many books about historical fiction but I loved this book. May is book #2 in the daughters of the sea book. I didn’t really enjoy the first one in the series but I absolutely loved this one.

May is growing up in the 1800’s as the lighthouse daughter. The book starts out with the father finding May out in the sea and bringing her back to his wife.( By the title of series you pretty much tell that it’s a mermaid tale)

May has wanted to go swimming ever since she was little but her parents forbid it. Until one day she found out why her dad said no. She grew a tail in the water. Throughout the whole book you saw her feeling lost and empty there was something missing. She found her missing sister and the felt better but not complete. They are still missing a sister. There are three of them.

The characters in this book felt so real. I loved the relationship between her and her father even after she found out he wasn’t her real father. I was horrified at how the mother (Zeeba) acted throughout this whole book. I felt like punching her and telling her to suck it up.

Then there was Rudd, he was such a creep and then near the end of the book I found out what he was really after. He made me so aggravated. Then the relationship between May and Hugh was so romantic.

I finished May in a couple of hours and I didn’t want to finish reading it. I wanted to know what happened after the book ended. Now I can’t wait to read the third book in the series. I hope I find out when it comes out soon.

Playing Hurt

I haven’t read Holly schindler’s other book yet, but after reading this book I know I have to read it.

I love books that switch from one persons point of view to another, I can feel the emotion more between the both of them that way.

Although the book started out a little slow for me, I still loved it. I can’t really relate to any of the characters in this book mainly because I am not at all into sports or anything like that.  But reading this book made me refreshed and I kept reading. I didn’t know how this book was going to turn out. Although I did know that Clint and Chelsea would be together. It had to happen. Plus I have a habit of reading the last 2 pages of book before I start it. It almost always spoils the plot but I can’t stop the habit.

Playing Hurt is a book about strength and courage and getting over your fears.

Chelsea had an accident on the basketball court and now all her dreams are ruined. She had to have hip surgery and she never played basketball again after the accident. (Do you blame her?) Her dad takes her to a three week “boot camp” program at the Northern Minnesota lake resort during the summer. There she meets, Clint (her trainer) who has his own traumatic past. They are instantly attracted to each other but there’s one problem. Chelsea has a boyfriend back home is loyal and loves her so much. He is really clingy and would never hurt her. That’s why it’s so much harder to be Clint. But she loves him.

I honestly did love this book. Holly Schindler’s writing is so clear and I can picture everything, it’s so detailed, I feel that I was right there at the scene.  I can’t wait to read Holly Schindler’s other book (A Blue so Dark) that came out last year.

Bio:Jennifer Murgia has been writing ever since she was nine years old. After receiving recognition for her poetry, she went on to use her talents to bring characters to life in fiction novels that are authentic, intriguing, and personal. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children.

Interview:
What inspired you to write about Angels?

The idea of writing about angels was an unexpected one. I suppose it came from reading lots and lots of vampire books and wanting to know more about a different type of being, that the idea of an untouchable love between a girl and a boy popped into my head.

When you first starting writing Angel Star, did you know that your books were going to be popular?

No! I certainly don't see them as being widely popular yet, maybe just among a small group of readers. But the idea is nice.

Are some of the characters in your books real?

No they aren't. The only character that I can tie to a real life person would be Teagan. Her beliefs are much like mine. But I think that's pretty much true for any writer, that we put a little (or sometimes a lot) of ourselves into our characters and live vicariously through them.

Some fans are saying that there team Garreth, or team Harian, which one are you?

It would be unfair to say I'm rooting for one over the other but between you and me . . . my heart belongs to Hadrian. Shhh. You didn't hear that, okay?

When you started writing lemniscate, did you know right away how the book was going to turn out? or did you have some writing blocks here and there?

Yes, I did actually. I started writing Lemniscate the day I finished Angel Star. No kidding. THE SAME DAY. And ironically I wrote a particular scene that involves Brynn. It's a creepy little scene and I kept it close at hand while writing the rest of the book to keep me focused. Do I have writing blocks? Oh gosh yes. Lots of them. But that's when I put the story away for a day or two and let my head rest. By the time I go back to it I'm ready to dive in again!

Where is your favorite place to write?

I don't have a favorite - it's more a matter of being convenient, but I write at the dining room table. Glamorous, I know.

Is there going to be a third book, or are you working on something else?

I just finished writing my third book which is not related to the Angel Star stories at all and I'm anxious to see what will happen with it. Hopefully there will be good news in the next few months.
As far as a third in the series? Well, I'm working on an idea...

For people who want to write and get publshed, is there any advice you could give them?

Absolutely, just keep writing! That's the most important thing. Make the time and stick to it. The important part is the story and then editing. Lots and lots of it! And good luck to all the future authors out there!

The Chaos

The chaos is the second installment in the Numbers series. This book isn’t as action packed as the first one, but it was still a great book!
Adam is Jem and Spiders son; he has the same condition his mom (Jem) has. He can look into someone’s and see their death date. He not only sees their death date he can see and feel how they’re going to die.
Adam is scared; he keeps seeing the same number flashing in almost everyone’s eyes. He wants to get out of England and warn the people, of something big that’s going to kill everyone, but he doesn’t know how to tell everyone without sounding like a crazy psychopath.
Then there’s Sarah’s point of view, she’s a pregnant teen who keeps having the same nightmares over and over again. Each night she wakes up screaming in terror of the horrors of her nightmare. She doesn’t know what they mean, and she doesn’t know if it’s real, but she’s scared. She can sense something is wrong. Suddenly Adam shows up at her school. It’s the boy in her nightmare, the one that takes her baby away into the flames.
When they meet up Adam is instantly drawn to Sarah and Sarah is drawn to him but she’s scared her nightmare will come true, she tries to stay away from him as much as she can, but he keeps finding her.
Adam and Sarah go on a journey to help the people of England and finding their inner strength.
I was very excited to read the second book in the numbers series. I loved both of the main characters, their personalities, their differences. The huge twist at the end was very exciting and I did not see it coming. I can’t wait to read book number three in the Number series: Infinity which comes out in July 2011.
